Salvador Dali is one of the most amazing artists ever. His use of space in so many types of mediums to create images within images makes him my favorite surrealist.And beyond art, the man was clever in general. In his later years, Dali lacked the finances to support his exorbitant lifestyle. To remedy his situation, he turned to a cheap trick:
When dining out, he would order all of the best food for a full table of his friends. Receiving the bill, he would write out a check - the amount which he knew he couldn't cover. But to avoid overdrawing his account, he would draw over the back side of the check. Of course, once the restaurant saw his sketch which came with his signature, there was no way they could cash it. They would be giving up their own Dali original.Not a bad scheme.
Here are a few shots from my visit to Dali Theatre-Museum in Figueres, Spain. Entirely designed by Dali, himself, it's one of the rare museums that allows photos to be taken of the works. For a closer look, click on the photos.

Excelent link - I watched some of the other celebraty participants. They were all interesting, but Dali was the funniest.
