The World Is Not Flat

Just as the ancients believed the earth to be flat due to limited perspective, many people tend to view their every day world as one-dimensional as well. Things and situations, even people, are described as good or bad, lucky or unlucky, useful or worthless, this or that. But what is forgotten is that we tend to form opinions based on a limited or skewed view point. And because it is in our nature to categorize, we then apply labels despite their limiting factor. What this leads to is a world lacking balance.

A more comprehensive way to view things, people, and situations, is how modern man has come to know the world: as a sphere. That is, as multi-dimensional with an uncountable number of points making up the whole. Applying this outlook to a given situation, you would no longer base your perception of it on
a narrow pinpoint view formed from your limited experience as an individual and your resulting feelings. Rather, by gathering other points of view, you would gain a world of understanding, compassion, and knowledge by opening your eyes to the entirety and complexity of a situation.

It's becomes difficult to judge when you put this theory into practice, which is a good thing since judging is better left to a higher power. The world is no longer black or white, but grey which is a balance of both black and white.

Step outside the flat box along with your immediate impressions or feelings, and in return your eyes will be opened to a more complete, well-rounded world. No longer will you be
dazzled by the light reflected from one facet of a gem, but instead will start to see all the other little facets that make the gem the complete object that it is. And as people learn to embrace this concept, pain and suffering lessen.
